Cards and Small Matted Art
I started making “name cards” over 20 years ago, originally as a way of using small scraps of fabric left over from larger batiks. They proved so popular that they soon became a major production item, and I continue to sell them in my shop in Arden, and at the Riverguild in Perth and Cornerstone in Kingston.
Each card is a small, handmade batik on cotton, mounted on a single 5×7 sheet of card stock. I have several thousand names in stock, and will make unusual names to order – e-mail me at email@example.com to arrange for a custom order.
I also make 5×7 cards with personal or seasonal messages for $12, and larger pieces with two or more names for families and couples (price determined by size.)
All works signed with my name are original batik on fabric, but I also make a line of reproduction cards. I print the reproductions on matte photo paper, using digital photos or scans of my batiks. The reproductions are then mounted on art paper cards, and packaged with an envelope. Most of the batiks shown on the website are available as reproduction cards, plus many more – I have some in stock, but usually print cards to order, so e-mail me if you are interested. Prices and sizes are as follows: 5 x 7, 6×6 and 4×9 ($7 each or 5 for $30), 4 ½ x 5 ½ and 5×5 ($4 each or 5 for $18).
As well as making reproductions of my original batik nature art and of the “dancing people” pictures, I do a line of cards appropriate for holidays, particularly Christmas, Hanukkah, winter and summer Solstice, Easter, and Valentine’s Day.
Original Batik Cards and Bookmarks
I am currently making four sizes of cards with original batik mounted on art paper:3.5×5 and 5×5 for $8 each, 5×7 and 6×6 for $15 each. Larger cards can be created to order.
I also make gift cards (2.5×3.5) for $4 each and similar pieces in acrylic sleeves to be used as bookmarks or sun catchers for $5 each.
All original cards are signed and packaged with an envelope.
